Episode 1. First Wave: Which birds fly away before the cold weather sets in?

Central Kazakhstan enjoys a favorable geographical location on the Eurasian continent for its avifauna. This territory is home to an "oasis" consisting of a large "chain" of wetlands (fresh and salt lakes) capable of supporting a large number of both waterfowl and semi-aquatic birds with their resources (fish, submerged and emergent vegetation, and plankton). To date, 367 avifauna species have been recorded in the region, 126 of which are breeding species. 45 bird species are listed in the Red Data Book of Kazakhstan.

The arrival of autumn significantly transforms nature. Autumn brings with it an atmosphere of peace, a touch of melancholy, and longing, as all of nature pauses to prepare for its long winter slumber. The air gradually becomes cool, clear, and especially fresh, and morning mists softly envelop the earth.

August is gently drawing to a close, leaving us with the warmest, most piercingly golden days

We left Astana at 5:30 a.m., and two hours later we were watching pink flamingos through an optical tube, and on the way a herd of saigas crossed the road in front of the bus. We tell you how our day went.
